Kanshiram Memorial Lecture

Till the time we won’t be successful in politics and not able to have power in our hands, the social and economic transformation is not possible. Political Power is the key to success. (Manyavar Kanshiram, 1998)

On the occasion of the 85th Birth Anniversary of Manyavar Kanshiram Saheb, the Organizing Committee of Kanshiram Memorial Lecture in collaboration with Ambedkarite Students’ Association, TISS, Mumbai is going to organize the First Kanshiram Memorial Lecture on 15 March 2019.

Topic: Seven Decades of Joint Electorate System: Revisiting Kanshiram’s Chamcha Yug

The Theme is decided in order to purview the violation of reservations in legislature and why it is still more or less inefficient to deal with the issues existing in the society. The memorial lecture will also revisit the idea of ‘Political Chamchas’ (stooges) as explained by Manyawar Kanshiram in his book ‘Chamcha Yug’. Apart from it, the lecture will provide a platform from where Manyvar’s ideas could be regenerated in the academic spaces in a quest for social justice and debrahmanization of Indian academia.
