Jai Bheem to all Bahujan women economists/aspiring economists! I work as a Research Associate at a research organisation headquartered in Chennai.
a) My organization is providing internship opportunities from February/March onwards for a duration of two to three months to Bahujan students who are either currently doing their Master’s degree in Economics or those who have completed that course.
Kindly note that the project is on Gender-based Violence and we want to hire Bahujan women as interns. This can be an important opportunity for our people to learn skills like Stata, data analysis, intervention monitoring and also to get first-hand knowledge of how RCTs are conducted. So, even if you have a very basic knowledge of Stata, please do apply. We will be providing you with training before assigning responsibilities. The team that I am part of is very supportive and I have learned a lot after becoming a part of it. The internship will be a paid position (10K per month) and will be based out of Hyderabad or Hajipur, Bihar. So, you will have to be based out of these cities when you are interning with us. The concerns regarding payment can be discussed over the email when you write to me with your CV on the email ID provided below.
b) For the project in Bihar, apart from interns, we are also looking to hire trainers/facilitators. The stipend starts from 15K and can go up based on the profile of the applicant. For this position, the qualifications are as follows –
• Proficient in Hindi.
• Comfortable travelling within Bihar.
• Have prior experience of working in the field.
• Time commitment – 15 to 30th March and 15th to 30th April.
• Prior experience in working on gender related projects will get preference.
Kindly note that economics as a background is not compulsory for option b) but it is for option a).
Please note that we won’t be able to provide accommodation, but we will provide all the assistance in finding you one. And since I am also working on both the projects, my experience at both these places can help you find a place or you can stay with me too!
