The recent rise in the atrocity cases has been most disturbing, and alarming. Casteism is crossing all its earlier limits, and is now a malignant tumour. To counter this, we must strengthen the atrocity law. And to strengthen the atrocity law must be one of our most urgent priorities. We have little else to help us. There’s no hope from the ministers and politicians. So, please do this. In whichever district you live, please send a Right to Information query to your Collector’s and SP’s office. Following questions have been suggested by Advocate Mahesh Bhosle:

1. In the following years: 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-2014, how many crimes were booked under the atrocity act, in the said district?

 2. What is the ‘case number’ of the atrocity crimes booked in the following years 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-2014 ?

 3. The atrocity crimes booked in the following years :2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-2014 have been booked in which police stations?

 4. What is the police station’s name, contact number, and address as referred in the 3rd question above.

All the activists who are ready to undertake this responsibility at the district level, can please leave your name and contact number and district name. We have to extract this information with a single RTI notice. This won’t take long and there’s not much hassle.

A group of lawyers is planning to head to the court, and we can offer them this little help. My contact number is 8149752712, and please call me on this number to confirm/add to/verify any information that I already have.’
